John “Max” Trujillo III

John “Max” Trujillo III was born and raised in Fairfield, California. Max received two Associate’s Degrees from Solano Community College and then transferred to Texas. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in History with a minor in African American Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso. From there, Max came home to the Bay Area to pursue his Master’s Degree from San Francisco State. Max received his Master’s Degree in Ethnic Studies focusing on Comparative Ethnic Studies researching Third Worldism between both the Brown Berets and Black Panther Party in the Bay Area and East L.A. Max has worked in various higher education roles, serving as a Program Coordinator for programs such as Upward Bound, EOPS and First Year Experience (FYE).

Currently, Max serves as a full time Tenure Track Faculty member in the Department of Ethnic Studies and Social Justice Studies at Los Medanos College. He serves as the Chapter Historian for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Kappa Omicron Lambda chapter seated in Vallejo, CA. Lastly, he runs a college readiness program for young men called Alpha Academy which promote access to higher education, boosting self-esteem and creating awareness. Within this program the Alpha Academy Committee members work with 6th-12th grade students in the larger Bay Area all the way to Georgia since its creation in 2020.
