Nutrition

Welcome To An ELITE Nutrition

ELITE Public Schools recognizes school meals as a critical educational support for its students. Ensuring every child has access to healthy meals each day can significantly reduce hunger and bolster health and academic achievement. Research shows that students who eat breakfast and lunch at school rely on school meals for a substantial portion of their daily energy intake. The challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic have heightened the importance of school meals. Studies also indicate that school meals tend to be healthier than meals brought from home, with fewer empty calories and higher consumption of fruits, vegetables, and milk. At ELITE Public Schools, the nutrition services department supports student success and learning by providing nutritious meals throughout the school year.

For the 2025-2026 school year, California will continue the statewide Universal Meals Program for all schoolchildren. This program builds on the foundations of the federal National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP). The State Meal Mandate guarantees a nutritionally adequate breakfast and lunch, free of charge, for all children each school day.

ELITE Public Schools’ nutrition services department remains committed to providing healthy school meals and snacks to its students to support academic success and promote healthful eating habits that foster lifelong positive nutrition practices.
